Suspects Held, Firearms and Marijuana Seized in Sustained Anti-Crime Exercises
Seven persons were arrested and two firearms and marijuana worth over one million dollars were seized, by officers during sustained anti-crime exercises executed across the country.
In the North Central Division (NCD), Task Force officers conducted an exercise, as part of Operation ‘Grand Slam’, between 6 pm and 12 am, on Thursday 19th January, 2023.
During the exercise, five persons all of Cunupia, were arrested for possession of one Luger pistol and a quantity of marijuana.
Officers of the NCD Task Force and the Canine Branch, also conducted an exercise between 2 pm and 6:30 pm, yesterday, during which they executed search warrants in the Tacarigua, Mt. Dor and Champ Fleurs districts.
Two persons of Tacarigua and Champ Fleurs were held for possession of marijuana and ammunition.
The same party of officers then proceeded to a forested area in the Mt. Dor area, where they found one Glock pistol along with 16 rounds of ammunition and 15.6 kilogrammes of marijuana.
The drug has an estimated street value of $1.2 million dollars.
Meanwhile, an intelligence-led exercise conducted in the Maraval district yesterday afternoon, by officers of the Western Division Gang and Intelligence Unit, resulted in the recovery of a white Kia K2700 van. The vehicle was reported stolen from the Piarco district on Wednesday 18th January, 2023.
And, in the Port of Spain Division, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, acting on information yesterday, proceeded to Laventille Road, where they found a white Nissan AD Wagon which had been reported stolen, bearing false license plates.
Investigations are ongoing into all the above matters.
