The Evangelists vs The Marrains as the killings continue in Blanchisseuse over a controversial parcel of land.
But who does the land belong to? This is a question the police should have already gotten the answers to which may stem the apparent unending blood flow in the once-quiet rural Northcoast community.
One person was killed and two others wounded during the latest shooting incident on Saturday night at O'Connor Street, Upper Blanchisseuse.
26-year-old Naeem Marrian of LP#54 O'Connor Street, Blanchisseuse was declared dead at the Mt. Hope Hospital shortly after 10 pm. He was shot multiple times about the body and was taken to the facility by relatives.
Jardin Dedier, Marrain's neighbour, and Subianna De Verteuil were also shot during the incident and were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital by police.
TSR was informed that around 9:00 pm on Saturday 11th February 2023, Marrain along with the two injured victims were in company with other persons liming in the gallery of his home when four (4) masked men, armed with AR-15 rifles and handguns, entered the yard and opened fire at the group before fleeing.
The scene was processed and Crime Scene Investigators found and seized the following:
• Thirteen (13) 5.56 shell casings
• Four (4) .40 shell casings
• Four (4) 7.62 shell casings
• One (1) fragment
• Five (5) deformed projectiles
• Three (3) live .40 caliber
• One (1) firearm magazine
A relative of Dedier (who was injured on Saturday) was among two men gunned down at a construction site at O'Connor Street Blanchisseuse late last month.
Gunmen tried to kill Marrain, one of his sisters last year. Asha Marrain and Naeem were shot and wounded at O'Connor Street on Saturday 12th November 2022. Naeem was shot in the leg while Asha was grazed by a bullet during that incident.
The motive for Marrain's killing has been described by police as "revenge" for the double murders of 51-year-old Nigel Dedier and 31-year-old Michael “Frisk” Evangelist that took place on Friday 27th January 2022 at a construction site near the Blanchisseuse Recreation Ground.
Marrain was accused of being one of the suspects in that brazen shooting incident and all the shootings and killings in the Blanchisseuse community between 2020 and 2023, Uncutt News was told, are linked to a parcel of land.
We were reliably informed that another sister of Marrain was evicted from the controversial land where she built her home. She claimed ownership of the land indicating that it was given to her by her grandfather.
Evangelist (now deceased) also claimed ownership of the land which his mother said he inherited from his great-grandfather.
On February 17, 2021, Evangelist’s brother, 31-year-old Sherwin Maharaj was shot dead near his home, when a gunman waited for him behind a nearby abandoned house.
On September 8, 2021, Clive “Fibee” Joseph, 48, and Kevin “Gee” Estrada, 40, of Upper Village, were standing at O’Connor Street, when two gunmen emerged from some bushes and opened fire on them.
