A male body was discovered in a fruit stall in Tableland last night with an almost severed head.
The victim has been identified as Andre Charles from Robert Village Tableland.
Constables Narace and Khan of the Tableland Police Station were on mobile patrol around 10:26 pm when they were contacted by the command centre about a body lying motionless along the Naparima Mayaro Road near Warren Trace.
When they got to the location, they saw the body lying in blood in the fruit stall with chop wounds to the head and neck.
The victim was said to be of African descent, approximately five feet five inches tall. He was dressed in a black T-shirt, a cream three quarter pants and black and white Crocs.
The district medical officer viewed the body and ordered its removal to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary pending a post mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
